I’m just waiting down the end of an auction on eBay - just over an hour to go now. In this one I am the seller, and it is actually a piece of photographic gear that is on the block: a Canon FD 85mm f1.2L lens.

I bought it a couple of months ago because I was curious to see why it is always so hyped on the internet. That, and KEH had a sale, which included cheaper shipping, so I took the plunge.

Lovely lens. Heavy. Impressive. Not my thing at all I’m afraid. Exquisite quality but a bit too perfect for my liking. The thing I like about the FD lenses I have is the character they possess, and this one has more quality than character. Oh, and I have altogether too much money tied up in it.

Still, I’m hoping to get a little more than I paid (please don’t tell this to the potential bidders - there are 24 people watching it). The money will go back into the ever-diminishing pot. Until another shiny bauble presents itself I suppose.

Anyway, I’ll see if I can find a picture that I scanned using it because, as I say, it is a nice lens.
