Here is a picture belonging to a genre that has become somewhat of a photographic cliche - torn posters and other found stuff. However, in the right hands, found stuff can reveal a lot about us and how we tick.
I think the greatest exponent of this genre was Aaron Siskind who was a most remarkable photographer. He was able to turn all sorts of found and discarded, unnoticed and unlovely detritus into high art by the way he used his camera, eye and brain to select and amplify. I’ll try to post a link above to some of his wonderful images, for if you are unfamiliar with his work, you should really get to know it.
This homage to Aaron Siskind was taken last year in Ballarat. I call this picture “Going the Grope”.
