taking it all in
Sometimes the day ends with that rare stillness and glow and you just have to look at it and smile. This particular instance happened just a couple of weeks ago and I happened to be at Mentone with a camera in hand and wanted to express something about how such an evening makes you feel.
This guy’s appreciation of it says it really well. Exhausted through running or exercising or whatever, he is able to lean against the bench in front of him and, looking up, he sees it all - that piercing, clear and clean light, the beach with just a few people on it but the footprints of thousands, and the light - everywhere the light - illuminating and crafting everything into a source of enchantment.
He stayed like that for quite some time, totally oblivious to the fact that he was being photographed. And, after I made the photograph, I turned and faced the bay and let the evening wash over me, too.
